HSBC anunciou recentemente que vai investir R$ 35 milhões para adequar suas agências ao padrão internacional. Segundo informações, somente 35 agências estão sendo reformadas. O objetivo do banco é atrair clientes de alta renda. As mudanças no layout das agências, no entanto, não implicam em melhores condições de vida e trabalho para os trabalhadores, que continuam sofrendo assédio moral e problemas com segurança.
No primeiro semestre deste ano o HSBC lucrou US$ 3,35 bilhões no mundo. No Brasil, faturou US$ 214 milhões, sem considerar o pagamento de impostos. O lucro é 67,5% menor do que em 2008.
Nesta quarta-feira, dia 12, o novo presidente do HSBC, Conrad Engel, se reúne com a Contraf; a reunião estava marcada para o último dia 28, mas foi suspensa a pedido do banco. Na pauta, entre outros pontos, demissões, falta de pessoal, baixa remuneração, PCS e metas abusivas.
