O presidente e CEO do HSBC no Brasil, Conrado Engel, durante reunião com a Contraf no último dia 12, refutou qualquer possibilidade de saída do banco do mercado nacional. O presidente reafirmou o papel estratégico do Brasil para o HSBC, em “decorrência do dinamismo da economia do país”. Como estratégia de mercado, Conrado Engel, disse que o banco vai continuar presente na área de varejo e ampliar a área de atendimento Premier, considerada como um grande diferencial de mercado do HSBC, uma vez que o banco é a única instituição financeira realmente global presente no Brasil.
A reunião com o presidente foi solicitada pelo Contraf, conforme decisão do Encontro Nacional de Dirigentes do HSBC, realizado nos dias 2 e 3 de junho deste ano. Naquela ocasião, a maior preocupação dos dirigentes era o processo de demissão ocorrido no final de 2008 e no início deste ano. Sem falar no alto grau de insatisfação dos bancários. Conrado Engel reafirmou a política de crescimento orgânico como objetivo do HSBC. Ou seja, “disputa do mercado e investimento na satisfação de funcionários e clientes”.
Os dirigentes da Contraf destacaram que esses objetivos do HSBC contrastam com as recentes medidas do banco. Os dirigentes ressaltaram ainda que uma série de questões tem aumentado o nível de insatisfação; dentre elas, demissões, fechamento de unidades, implantação do programa “Gerente Virtual”, política de pessoal e remuneração e falta de funcionários.
